Ada Corella Thorud, age 94, of La Crosse, Wis., died peacefully December 3, 2017 at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse, Wis.

She was born on March 18, 1923, in Westby, Wis., to Casper and Anna (Iverson) Hooverson. She married her husband, James Thorud, on March 21, 1942 in Decorah, Iowa when Jim returned from World War II. The couple made their home in La Crosse where Ada enjoyed her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Coughlin of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, daughter-in-law, Elinor Thorud, of La Crosse, Wis., three grandsons, Benjamin (Kim) Thorud, of La Crosse, Wis., Ed Coughlin and Alex Coughlin both of Durham, North Carolina and granddaughter Julie (Carlin) Adrainopoli, of Chicago; Ill., six great-grandchildren, Colton Thorud, Caden, Owen and Tyson Adrainopoli, and Liam and Zoe Coughlin. She is also survived by 2 very special nieces, Linda Severson and Rita Witt who visited and supported her daily while she resided at Benedictine Nursing Home and Mayo Hospital. She is also survived by several other loving supportive nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband James in January, 2003 and her loving, devoted son, Robert James Thorud on July 23, 2013.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Oliver, Helen Thorud and Lillian Lounsbrough.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse, Wis. at 11 am Wednesday, December 6, 2017.  Pastor Melinda Pupillo will officiate with burial to be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends and family may call from 10 am until the time of services at Church on Wednesday.
