Betty Buchner

February 14, 1928 — February 19, 2018

Betty Buchner, age 90, of La Crosse WI, returned home to her heavenly Father on February 19, 2018.  She was born to John and Lioba (Roth) Pitz on February 14, 1928 in La Crosse, WI.

Betty passed away in her home, which her and her late husband Robert (Bob) Buchner put their heart and soul into building over 67 years ago.  She and her late husband raised their son Thomas (Barbra) Buchner and step-son Robert “Butch” (Connie) Buchner by partaking in adventures of fishing and hunting along the river and bluff near the house.  In her quiet time she enjoyed reading a romantic novel or watching Lifetime movies.  Her passion for Wisconsin sport teams would keep her talking for hours. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Sheila (James Feld) Gruenke, Travis Buchner, and William “Billy” Buchner, especially when they would come for a couple of weeks in the summer and going on vacation together.  Betty was a hard working individual who made some very special friendships while training and educating “young” ones, especially at LaCro Product, Inc.   One of the relationships she made lasted beyond her working years, Mark (Dianah) Colburn, they had an extra special friendship that made them like family.  Also, she had a loving relationship with her neighbors, Shawn (Heidi) Horton and their family.

She is survived by her brother, Walter Pitz, and his dog Paige who would visit frequently during the summer to care for the garden.  Also, a beautiful great-granddaughter, three special great-grandsons, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, step-son, parents, five sisters, four brothers, and a very special sister-in-law, Pat (Patricia) Pitz.

A private graveside service will take place in Spring,  2018, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Betty’s name.
