Cornelia L. Kamla

Cornelia ‘Cornie’ L. Kamla, age 93, of La Crosse, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System – La Crosse. She was born on March 18, 1924, to Leon and Mathilda Narloch, in Wausau, WI.

Cornie graduated from Wausau High School in 1942. She married Joachim (Jim) Kamla, on September 1, 1945, at St. Michael’s Church in Wausau, WI. His brother Father Jerome Kamla officiated, and they were married for 61 years. She worked at Northern Engraving, Batavian National Bank, and retired from Central High School in 1986 after serving as receptionist for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim on October 17, 2006; son Jeffrey on January 18, 2016; brothers infant Joseph, LeRoy, and Lawrence Narloch; sister Violet Gesicki; brothers-in-law Lawrence Gesicki, LeRoy Sieger, Leo St. Jacque, Sr. and Father Jerome Kamla; and sisters-in-law Alice Narloch and Monica St. Jacque.

Cornie is survived by daughter Mary (Don) Stein, San Antonio, FL; sons Michael (Sandra), Rochester, MN; Stephen (Kathleen), Onalaska, WI; and Gregory (Joyce), Sugar Land, TX; sisters Sr. Margaret Narloch , Felician Order, Chicago, IL and Mary (James) Erickson, Wausau, WI;  sisters-in-law Dorothy Sieger, La Crosse, WI and Lois Narloch, Casper, WY; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; 2 step great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends who greatly miss her.

She will be remembered for her warm smile and kindness, her quiet humor and devotion to her family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, on Monday June 19, 2017 in the Marian Chapel of St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, 530 Main St., La Crosse, WI. Msgr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate with entombment to be held in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will start at 9:00 AM and go until the time of Mass at Church on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, Aquinas High School, or Mayo Clinic Hospice.
