Donald E. Webb, age 92, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Hillview Health Care Center with family at his side. Don was born in Colo, Iowa to Clarence and Lillian Webb on June 18, 1925.
Don graduated from Nevada, Iowa High School in 1943. After high school, Don enlisted in the military and served time in the Army. After his service, he moved back to Iowa where he met and married Mary Mahling. They were fortunate to raise 3 sons and 1 daughter. Don graduated from Iowa State University in June of 1955 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Upon his college graduation, Don and Mary moved to Milwaukee, WI where Don was employed by Bucyrus-Erie as the company’s magazine editor. In 1965, Don and Mary moved with their family to La Crosse, WI where Don became employed with Dairyland Power as a Public Information Specialist. Don remained with Dairyland until his retirement in 1988.
Don was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and La Crosse Loggers. Don was an active member of the Lion’s Club and served as Lion’s Club President from 1975-1976. Don and Mary enjoyed many warm winters in AZ following retirement.
Don is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary. Don is survived by 2 sons, Terry Webb (Susie) of Surprise, AZ, Jim Webb (Gail) of La Crosse, WI and 1 daughter, Carol Thompson (Scott) of West Salem, WI. Don is survived by 8 grandchildren, Kari McConaughey (John), Shannon Webb (Geoff), Collin Webb (Paige), Dana Webb (Bret), Kristin Larson (Dan), Kendra Braucher (Doug), Karly Baganz (Jerad), Sydney Sampson Webb and her mother, Susan Sampson and 2 step-grandchildren, Peter Punzel (Julie) and Sarah Anderson (Scott). Don is survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Malachy, Eva, Mae, Lindi, Sam, Lilly, Ella, Beau, Brynnleigh, Bailey and 3 step great-grandchildren, Nick, Ben and Elliot.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, David Webb.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd. S., La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at church on Saturday. A private family burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillview Health Care Center Recreational Dept.
