GENZ, Elsie G.

Elsie G. Genz, 98, of La Crosse, Wis., passed away at Bethany Riverside on June 24, 2012.

She was born August 7, 1913 in La Crosse, Wis., to August and Elsie Panke. Elsie married Alex Genz on May 15, 1936, in Sparta, Wis.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a great cook and liked to garden and tend her roses. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Elsie is survived by her daughters; Mary Genz of Eau Claire, Wis., Katherine Baier of La Crosse, Wis., and Christine Genz of  La Crosse, Wis.,  sons; Thomas (Mary J.) Genz of La Crosse, Wis., and William (Joyce) Genz of Mobile , Alabama, six grandchildren, Steven (Pam) Baier of Morgan Hill, Calf., Mark (Amelia) Baier of Milford, MA, John Baier of Alameda, Calf. , Geraldine (Sam) Nettles of Pensacola, Fla., Amanda (Mark) Allen and Karen (Will) Halter both of La Crosse, Wis. 5 Great- Grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister Marion Sunday of Rockford, Illinois

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, one infant son James, one grandson Danny Genz, her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June, 28, 2012, in the Marion Chapel of St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, 530 Main St., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate with burial to be held in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7:00 PM with vigil service at 5:00 PM on Wednesday at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home-Nelson Chapel, 1007 Caledonia St., La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may also call from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass in the Cathedral on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Bethany Riverside Care Center or St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral.

Elsie’s family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Riverside for their wonderful care.
