Ethel M. Haag, 97, of La Crosse, Wis., died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Mayo Health System, La Crosse, Wis. She was born June 12, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., to Hugo and Mary (Reich) Damrow. She married Leo Haag, on June 2, 1944 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her husband passed away shortly after they celebrated their 50th anniversary.

She enjoyed putting flowers into arrangements at home and volunteered as a nursing assistant. Ethel made it to Junior High School when the Great Depression hit and then began working in a factory to help her family in Chicago.

She is survived by her son Ronald of La Crosse, Wis., one daughter-in-law; Donna (Hodson) Haag and one brother-in-law John Haag.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, one son Donald Haag, her sisters Elanor Grant and Evelyn Hartke and brother Ray Damrow.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 19, 2015, in Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate with burial to be held in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 5:00 PM on Wednesday at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave., So., La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may also visit from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass on Thursday.
