James A. (Jim) Blaschke, 65, of La Crosse, WI passed away Wednesday May 25, 2016 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center surrounded by his family. Jim was born Oct. 8, 1950. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Aquinas High School. He lived in La Crosse with his parents Jerry and Betty Blaschke until 2008 when he resided with his sister Ellen and nephew Alex.

Jim took great pride in his jobs at Desmond’s Formal Wear and North Presbyterian Church. His retirement party at the church was a great joy to him. Jim loved the simple things of life; playing cards , fishing, hunting, and golfing at Pine Creek with family and friends, hanging out at the family boathouse, working in the garage and driving his car. He also managed a few trips to the casinos. Jim was a pillar of the Blaschke family and touched the lives of all whom he met. He had a heart of gold.

He is survived by his brothers Robert (Jeanie), Jerome (Wendy), Joseph (Mary Kay), John (Nikki) and sisters Mary, Ellen, Ann, and Joan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Thomas Skemp and Michael Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Jane Skemp and Barbara Young.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday June 1st at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, 530 Main St. La Crosse with Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home 1501 West Ave. So. on Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials are preferred to Aquinas Schools Foundation or the American Diabetes Foundation. The family wishes to thank Jim’s sister Ellen for her years of extraordinary care she provided. Requiem in pace.
