Jerome (Jerry) F. DeMers, 67, of Mount Prospect, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 with his loving family around him. He had been battling pneumonia since August.

Jerry was born on April 26, 1947 to Alfred and Maragret (Lynch) DeMers in La Crosse, WI. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1965, and from UW-La Crosse in 1970 with a degree in Business. He married Patricia McMullin in 1971 and they moved to the Chicago area, and they later divorced. In Chicago Jerry worked at the National Lamination Company and Walgreens. He enjoyed following many sporting events, especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Some of Jerry’s highlights were coming back to La Crosse to be with his family and friends during the holidays and seeing everyone at his High School Class Reunions.

Jerry is survived by his Cousins Debbie (Larry) Wendland of La Crosse, Becky Banasik of La Crosse, and Ella (Stephen) Ruetten of Sparta and her family; Niece, Sarah (Nate) Schnick of West Salem, their Children Liam and Lenora; Nephew and Godson Michael (Sarah Peterson) Wendland of La Crosse. He is also survived by several more special cousins, many of whom live in the Rice Lake area, and special friends Ken Fall and Bob Ingrattia of the Chicago area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and many special aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 18, 2015, from 5 to 8:00 PM at The View Banquet Hall, 3020 State Road 16, La Crosse, WI. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 PM by Sister Kathy Stuttgen.

Debbie, Becky, and Sarah would like to thank the staff, Doctors, and Nurses at the Arlington Heights Community Hospital for their care and concern for Jerry. They would also like to thank all the friends who helped them through this difficult time.

Jerry was a very special Son, Cousin, Godfather and Friend that has been and will remain deeply missed.
