Jimmy Mitley

d. April 15, 2015

Jimmy Lee Mitley, Age 29. First born son of Larry and Sue Ann Mitley. Brother to Molly, Joey, and Ahna, and nephew to Jay Davis.

“I’m sorry. You don’t understand; I was in pain. That’s my addiction. Not me. I know you were always trying to help me. I really wanted to work hard to make you proud. I wanted to take care of myself. I wanted the life you wanted for me. It was hard. I’m sorry for all the heartache. Don’t be mad. I’m still ‘The Boy My Love.’

Dad, relax. I’m okay. I’m playing guitar with Jimmy Hendrix, and it rocks. I don’t even have to wear my monkey suit. Everyone here just wants to hear the squeals too! It’s beautiful and peaceful. Well, except for the loud squeals.

To my brother, Joey – you did what you could. You tried to warn me. We really did have some good times. I’m sorry it’s been hard lately. Remember, that was my addiction. Not me. Don’t be sad; enjoy the life you have. You have a girlfriend, man!

To my beautiful sisters – I will be watching over you, and I hope the memories of me will bring a smile to your face, and make you laugh on a gloomy day. To all of my cool cousins – we are so lucky to have each other. Good times, man! To all my awesome friends over the years – we did have some crazy times. I know you’ll keep telling the tales. Ben, you tried, man. Thank you.

I loved my job at Reinhart Meat Processing Plant. Steve, you rock. Thanks for the rides home and the encouragement. I felt I had a future. You were a better friend than you will ever know.

To all my aunts, uncles, and my parent’s friends – keep surrounding my family with your love and support. I can see that it’s so healing. I’m sorry for all the sadness. Don`t be mad. Remember, it’s not me. It’s the addiction. It’s awful, and it was always there taking over. I’m at peace now. My pain is gone. Heaven is real, and it’s heavenly. God will give you strength.

Wishing you hope for your future. That’s all any of us want, right? Mom, you always say, ‘Love your kids, no matter what.’ I Hope you can all come help in the healing.

My celebration of life party is Thursday, April 23rd, at the former Kick building at 115 S. 2nd St. in Downtown La Crosse, from 5pm-8pm. Come and eat, share a story, and laugh out loud. I absolutely knew what it meant to be loved.
