Mary Louise Cherry, 87, died peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Bethany St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in La Crosse.

Mary was born on February 28, 1928 to Luella and George Schreier.

On July 9, 1952 she married Forrest B. Cherry and they spent 46 years together in Indiana and Wisconsin. She devoted her life to her husband and 7 children. Her life’s successes were not about having more, but in what she was willing to give up to give more to her family.

Mary was known for her infectious smile, sense of humor and very calm and compassionate demeanor. She was always ready for a game of euchre, a puzzle extravaganza or engaging in a crafty project.

She left behind all 7 of her children: Paula Jensen, Susan (Kenny Thebeau), Curtis Cherry, Terry (Jim) Portell, Gary (Kathy) Cherry, Denise Stigen and Laura Revels. Grandchildren: Michelle Jensen, Stephanie Wood, Sarah Light, Jessica Cherry, Matt Portell, Dustin Stigen, Calvin & Nick Cherry, Kane & Jennifer Shoen, Dillyn Carlson.

Great Grandchildren: Brandon, Haley, Daniel, Josie, Lucas, Ethan, Trent, Mackenzie, Haley, Hendricks. Also, one sister, Rita Wright of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law-Michael Jensen, grandsons Keith Thebeau and Jason Wood. Brother-Donny Schreier, Sisters-Bea Schoenfeld and Pauline Schreier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday August 12, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St, Onalaska, WI. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate with burial to be held in the Onalaska Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Church on Wednesday.
