Michael `Kutzy` Joseph Hurley, La Crescent, MN. Loving husband, son, brother and friend,  passed away unexpectedly at his home early Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

He was born to Wilfred and Mary Violet (Sokolik) Hurley on June 2, 1950 in La Crosse, WI. Mike deeply loved his family and friends. He was a private person until he started to talk to you, then he wanted to know about your life and become a new friend. Mike had many friends from all walks of life. He lived each day to its fullest. As a child he loved raising pigeons. As a teenager he liked motorcycles, cars, and boats. A child of the 60`s, his adventures took him many places. Mike lived on Pettibone Island and loved being on the river every day. He liked aviation, and experienced his first solo flight in 1976 and always remarked that he enjoyed the peacefulness of flight. He treasured his many trips with his wife, especially to Berlin, Germany.

Mike was a 1969 graduate of La Crosse Central High School and had recently become active in the Alumni and Booster Club Associations. His dedication to his alma mater was highlighted in the yearbook by carrying the spirit torch from the old Central to the new Central with several of his buddies. Go Red Raiders! He later attended UWL briefly and in 1984 was a graduate of Rochester Community Technical College obtaining an Associates degree as a Surgical Technician. Mike was a volunteer fireman and EMT in La Crescent for many years. He retired as a machinist from The Trane Company in 2010 after 17 years of service. His favorite job as a young adult was working at the Varsity Club, where he said he met half of La Crosse.

Mike was a devoted husband to his wife Nancy. They were friends for 38 years and partners for 30 years. They were married in Hawaii at Makena, Maui.

Mike is survived by his wife Nancy (Jambois) Hurley, his mother, Mary Violet (Sokolik) Hurley, his siblings, Jimmy (Kris) Hurley, Kathleen (Thomas) Marpe, Patricia Hurley, sister-in-law Maureen Hurley, seven nieces, one nephew, cousins and loving friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Wilfred Hurley, and beloved niece, Jennifer Kay Hurley.

Private family services and burial were held on May 20, 2016. A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday May 28th at All Star Banquets, 4735 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse. Memorials are preferred to the Special Olympics.
