Adrian Adam Bisek, age 82, of Arcadia, died peacefully on July 22, 2012. He was surrounded by the family that loved him and is now home with Dottie, the love of his life.

He was born December 27, 1929, in Independence, Wisconsin to Adam Bisek and Gertrude (Skroch) Bisek.  His siblings include Irene (Raymond) Slabik,  Jerome  (Bernice)Bisek,  Robert Bisek,  Joseph  (Charlotte)Bisek,  Gertrude (Ronald) Wilcziek,  Delores Klink  and Bernice Bisek. A brother, Donald (Pat) Bisek preceded him in death and a sister, Romelle, also preceded him in death along with his parents.

He  attended school until the eighth grade when he started his working life in the logging industry.  He, eventually, worked for Moss Tie and Lumber Company for several years before he joined the United States Army. Adrian was inducted March 31, 1951 and went through basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.  He received several badges and medals for his Korean War Service including the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean War Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Service Badge First Award. He was proud to be an American.

When he returned to the Arcadia area, he became a self-employed logger for several decades.  After a serious accident nearly took his life in the woods, he decided to switch to operating a salvage yard.  He did that for several decades.

Adrian was very involved in horse pulling contests for many years. He took great pride in his pinto, Cutey, that went on to win several national championships with Chuck Shaaf of Chetek.  Adrian truly enjoyed tractor pulling contests for a number of years.  He won many trophies for various types of competition and he loved to pull his “007” mini-rod. He competed until he was over 73 years old.

Adrian married Gertrude Sonsalla in 1951 and they raised five children including Marjorie Ellen (Richard) Andre  who died in 2007, Karl Paul (Kathy) Bisek, Wayne Devonne (Vickie Carroll) Bisek , Richard Adrian (Renae) Bisek and Marilyn Ann (Jim)Reedy .  Adrian and Gertrude divorced in 1972. In 1980, he married Dorothy (Dottie) Teasdale Potter Anderson and they raised two children Barbara Woychik and Dottie Sue Bahr. Adrian had eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  He was especially close with Wayne`s and Vickie`s  children, A.J., Cole and Melanie.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Riverland Energy building located in the town of Arcadia at N28988 State Road 93 on Saturday, August 4 starting at noon.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wayne Bisek for the establishment of an annual Adrian Bisek scholarship.  The scholarship will be for high school seniors pursuing a further education in the fields of auto mechanics or agriculture.

The family would like to thank the staff of Gunderson Lutheran Hospital and Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided Adrian and his family during his last days.

The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes of La Crosse, Wis. are assisting the family with arrangements.
