PAUL, Carol J.

Carol Jean Paul, 82, of La Crosse, WI, died Sat., Oct. 20, 2012, at Clare Bridge in La Crosse. She was born April 18, 1930, in La Crosse to Kenneth and Vivian (Roth) Larkin. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1947, and married William S. Paul on May 12, 1951, at St. James the Less Catholic Church, La Crosse.

Carol is survived by ten children: Thomas (Susan) Paul of Seattle, WA; Richard (Jackie) Paul of La Crosse; Jane (Eric) Lantz of Rochester, MN; Mary (Gregg) Schroeder of Savannah, GA; Robert (Vicky) Paul of Santa Rosa, CA; Theresa “Tess” (Robert) Nelson of St. Paul, MN; David (Katherine) of Atlanta, GA; Christopher Paul of Hazard, KY; Kenneth Paul of Denver, CO; and Barbara (David) Dorshorst of Milwaukee, WI; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Carol worked many years at The Eye Clinic of La Crosse once her children were grown. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at Franciscan Skemp Hospital and knitting, donating prayer shawls and lap robes. She also enjoyed playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles and caring for her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband William on April 24, 1990, one infant daughter Karen Paul, her parents and her sister Patricia Larkin Murphy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sat., Oct. 27, at Mary, Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse; burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Father Robert Cook will officiate. A prayer service will take place at 4 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 26, at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. They may also call at the church at 9:30 a.m., one hour before Saturday’s mass. 

Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Spirituality Center in La Crosse, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to a charity of your choice.
