Carolyn Joy Anderson-Hanson passed away on Wednesday July 14, 2021 in La Crosse, WI. Carolyn was born on October 16, 1948 in Northfield, Minnesota. Carolyn grew up in La Crosse and during her 72 years of life, lived throughout Wisconsin and in St. Louis, Missouri for a few years. In the last 20 years, she lived in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Carolyn was reserved in spirit and keenly intelligent. Carolyn craved to be surrounded by nature and the trees, the flowers and peace. Carolyn loved cats. She was an avid reader, she loved classical music, jazz, and the Beatles. She listened to NPR and she enjoyed romantic comedy movies. Carolyn loved crossword puzzles and antiques and she loved to laugh. Prior to dementia showing itself, Carolyn participated in progressive politics and causes for social justice.

And mainly, Carolyn loved her family. Carolyn Is survived by her husband Gary W. Hanson in Sparta, her two sons: Jon (Cindy) Roraff and Brad (Christine) Roraff; Her three grandchildren: Hunter, Benjamin & Madison, and her sister Mary Anderson-Frey (Terry Frey) of Black Earth. Carolyn is also survived by her sisters and brothers in-law: Nancy McNeil, Denise (Mike) Hensgen, Dennis (Julie) Hanson, Edward (Kathy) Hanson, Janice (Mark) Becker. And, of course her cats Abby, Mischief, and Princess.

She was preceded in death by her Mother Carol Anna Anderson (Aberg) and Father Albert G. Anderson of La Crosse, and her Mother-in-Law Alzina Hanson and Father-in-law Edward O. Hanson II.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South. Pastor Larry Hoppe will officiate. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
