HEILMAN, Geraldine T.

Geraldine T. Heilman, 96, passed away peacefully May 4, 2017, at Mayo – Franciscan

Skemp Hospital with her family at her side.

A lifelong resident of La Crosse, Gerry was born March 11, 1921 to Anna (Dolle) and

Edward Guggenbuehl and had no siblings. She was married October 16, 1948 to Frank

  1. Heilman, who preceded her in death in 1987.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Kelly) of Winona, Minnesota, Paul (Jane Podella)

of La Crosse; 3 grandsons, Nicholas (Nichole), Brian, Andrew; and 2 granddaughters,

Abby and Ashley, all of La Crosse. She also was the great-grandma of 4 dogs and 3

cats. We are very grateful for having had her with us for so many years. She cherished

her relatives and friends and treasured your love. We wish to thank all of you who made

her life so rich.

Gerry loved her family and friends and was involved in many hobbies and charities. She

enjoyed bowling when she was younger and at one time held the women’s city record.

When she couldn’t bowl anymore herself, she loved accompanying her family and

watching them bowl. She knitted countless caps and mittens for many years, giving

them to local medical centers for their newborn babies. She was active in her church for

many years and also distributed meals on wheels. She was extremely charitable with

her giving and always thought of others before herself. She sewed, knitted, and

crotched constantly, often with the TV on watching the Packers, Brewers, Cubs, tennis,

golf, or the Wisconsin Badgers.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Mary, Mother of the Church

Parish, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

at Church on Friday. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate with entombment to be held in

the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis.

Memorials may be given to Mary, Mother of the Church; the Aquinas Foundation; or the

charity of your choice.
