McFadden, Norma, K

Norma Kathleen McFadden, 86, of La Crosse, Wis., died Wednesday, December 28th, 2016. She was born to Otto and Elizabeth (Asleson) Nelson of Waterville on March 14th 1930.

Norma grew up on a farm in Waterville, after growing up she worked as a Nurses Aid at Gunderson Lutheron Hospital for several years.  Norma then married and moved to upstate New York until moving back home to Lacrosse Wisconsin in 1987 to be closer to her sisters and brothers.   During her time in NY Norma enjoyed a more than 40 year old friendship with Ruth Green, they both bonded over the Lord and supported each other through tough times.

Norma enjoyed her life and lived for the Lord, her church was very important to her and being an example to others on living a Christian life.  Norma enjoyed traveling, this included frequent trips to Mall of America as well as visiting Norway, the birth place of her grandparents.  Norma stayed active up until the last few months, walking several miles a day rain or shine, she never stopped moving!

She is survived by a daughter, Connie McFadden Spence of NC, a son, David McFadden of MS, three grand children, two Sisters; Alvina Sickels of Rossville IA., Olive Marohn of LaCrosse, two brothers; Kenneth Nelson of Clinton IA, and Howard Nelson of Camanche IA.  She is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by two brothers; Orville and Arthur, a sister Marjorie Nelson and a brothers in law Merlin Marohn and Art Sickels.

I want to thank everyone at Hillview Nursing home for making her last days comfortable. Also, thanks for the caring assistance from Cherryl Strecker, who helped Norma with household duties and make like easier for her.

Norma will be missed by so many people she touched, and remembered always as a loving and wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
