Susan H. Russell, 62, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 7, 2012, in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.
She was born in Arcadia on Dec. 8, 1949, to Bernard E. and Henrietta (Kokott) Misch. She married William F. Russell on August 1, 1970, in La Crosse.
She is survived by; one daughter, Michelle (Pete) Janisch of La Crosse; and one son, Michael Russell of Stoddard; and one granddaughter, Ashley Janisch. She is further survived by one sister; Betty (Ron) Mousel of Ludington, Michigan, nieces, nephews and many cousins.Â
Susan was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.Â She was creative and never afraid to try something new.Â She was active and enjoyed her job with the D.O.T.Â Other people saw her as a person who was generous and excited about life.Â As a homemaker she excelled.Â She loved her home and took great pride decorating, entertaining and personally maintaining her home.Â She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Her most recent trip was to Ireland in May of 2012 which she enjoyed immensely.Â She even expressed an interest in returning to Ireland in retirement. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter and helping her grow up.Â She was involved in many things including the community and church.Â Â Susan was an active clown, named â€œPopcornâ€.Â She entertained many at parades, parties, festivals, and events upon request.Â She loved making others smile. Â She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and her dog Chevy.
Susan worked for the State of Wisconsin, Dept. of Transportation for the last (18) years as a (Engineering Technician, Local Roads Coordinator).
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Russell Nov. 4, 2009, her parents, Bernard E Misch and Henrietta B (Kokott) Misch.Â
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 12, 2012, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 S., 13th St., La Crosse. The Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. S., La Crosse with a Vigil service to be held at 7 PM. Family and friends may also call from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass in Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday.
