Arthur Francis Levy, born May 11, 1923, passed away on January 24, 2016. Arthur was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving as an infantryman and military police officer before being called back to work on the farm. He attended school and learned auto mechanics and loved car races. Arthur was a devout Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He participated in community activities such as square dancing. Upon his retirement, he sold the farm and moved to La Crosse where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Marketing and worked at various jobs in the area. During his second retirement he became interested in genealogy and researched both the Levy and Beranek family histories. He also wrote a book of short stories about his life growing up on the farm near Yuba. Arthur attended as many learning in retirement courses as possible and his health allowed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. Levy and Albena G. (Beranek) Levy and half sister Margaret (Levy) Downing and full siblings; Marie A. (Levy) Kouba Verbsky, Rudolph (Rudy) Levy, and Anne (Levy) Beil. Never having been married, Arthur was close to his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed corresponding with them.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday February 4, 2016, in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, in the Marian Chapel, 530 Main St., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Jeffrey Hennes will officiate. Friends and family may call from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at Church On Thursday. Burial will be held at the Czech Cemetery, Champion Valley, near his home farm by Hillsboro, Wis. Rev. Donald Bauer will officiate the burial.
