Wurzel, Barbara A, 72, of La Crosse, Wis, passed away on Tuesday, April 7 in Onalaska Care Center with her siblings beside her. She was born on August 5, 1953 in La Crosse to Felix and Bernice (Wiggert) Wurzel.
Barb graduated from Aquinas HS, class of 1972. She graduated from UWL with a degree in business in 1976. After graduation she worked as a seamstress for Desmond's Mens Wear. Barb worked as a digital technician for McLoone Metal Graphics, retiring after 40 years. She continued seeing the special friends that she made there.
Barb loved spending time with family, at holiday gatherings and hockey games. She was soft spoken, kind, with a positive attitude. She enjoyed watching eagles and other wildlife along the marsh and river. She was an avid reader and exchanged books with others. She always had a card table setup to work on a jigsaw puzzle, with the tv tuned into a Packer or Brewer game!
Barb was a great sister. An inspiration for strength, honesty, self discipline and faith.
She was frugal, and lived a minimalist lifestyle. This allowed her enjoy the occasional bus trip to the casino!
Barb is survived by two sisters; Lisa (Roger) Remus of La Crosse, Wis, and June Wurzel of La Crosse, Wis; two brothers: Edward (Debi) Wurzel of La Crosse, Wis, and Thomas (Brenda) Wurzel of La Crescent, Min., eight nieces and nephews, and twenty grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, April 14, in Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St. La Crosse, Wis.
Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate with entombment to be held in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse Wis. Family and Friends may call from 9:30am until the time of mass at the church on Tuesday.
A special thanks to the outstanding staff at the Onalaska Care Center, and the Emplify Health by Gundersen Hospice team members.
And special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Rochester Mayo Clinic Transplant Center team that have supported Barb throughout the last 34 years.
Memorials are preferred to Mary Mother of the Church.
The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
