WURZEL, Bernice A.
Bernice A. Wurzel, 90, of La Crosse, Wis., died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Claire Bridge Cottage, La Crosse, Wis. She was born in La Crosse, Wis., on Sept. 21, 1923, to Richard and Anna (Schmitz) Wiggert. She married Felix Wurzel on June 12, 1948, in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, La Crosse, Wis.
She graduated from Aquinas High School, Class of 1940. She was a sectary for the La Crosse Police Dept., and the for the Carpenters Union Local 1143 in La Crosse, Wis. Bernice enjoyed watching the river and birds especially eagles. She had great wit and was always kind to everyone
She is survived by three daughters; Barbara Wurzel of La Crosse, Wis., Lisa (Roger) Remus of La Crosse, Wis., and June Wurzel of La Crosse, Wis., two sons; Edward (Debi) Wurzel of La Crosse, Wis., and Thomas (Brenda) Wurzel of La Crescent, Minn., eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister Corrine (Steve) Coughlin of St. Louis, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband Felix May 24, 1992, he parents, two sisters Marion Wiggert and Kathryn M. Wall and two brothers Richard and Edward Wiggert.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate with entombment to be held in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at the Church on Tuesday.
