LAWRENCE, Beverley A.
It`s with heavy hearts that we announce that Beverly Lawrence has been called home to meet the Lord on February 28, 2016. Never was there a better wife, mother, grandmother, or great grandmother. Beverly was born the youngest of eight children on September 6, 1932 in La Crosse to Pearl and Clarence Helgerson. In 1949 she married her high school sweetheart Henry Lawrence and they have been happily married for 67 years.
For most of her life Beverly cared for people. Besides being a mother and wife, she babysat for numerous other children and was also a foster care provider for elderly women from her home for many years.
Beverly was a loving woman and much loved by everyone that knew her. She was not only a mother to her children but their best friend. For years she hosted the entire family on every holiday. Every Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter all her children, grandchildren, grandparents, plus several aunts, uncles, and cousins would somehow squeeze into her home. There was never any fighting-only love and happiness. She was slow to anger, a devoted Christian, and loved being surrounded by her family. Family members traveled for miles and holiday celebrations lasted long into the night. She continued to care and mother everyone around her until Alzheimer`s slowly robbed her of favorite activities. We were blessed that she was able to recognize all her family members onto the end. She passed away in her home cared for by family and surrounded by love and her cats.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Lawrence, four children Shirley (Doug) Schmeckpeper, Dennis Lawrence, Steve Lawrence, and Kristie Lawrence. She also has 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by all of her siblings: Lawrence Helgerson, Marjorie Lawrence, Freda Nelson, Ruby Chester, Raymond Martin, Ethel Young, and Myron (Mike) Helgerson.
Visitation will begin at 10am on March 5th at the Onalaska Church of Christ (1415 Well street in Onalaska) to be followed by services at noon. Pastor Gordon will officiate. Beverly will then be laid to rest following a short grave side service at Mormon Coulee Cemetery.
The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
