Carol Jean VanMinsel

Carol Jean VanMinsel (Halaska)  passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024, in La Crosse, Wisconsin at Hillview Nursing Home, at the age of 94.  Born on March 7, 1930, in La Crosse, Wisconsin she was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Carol was a vibrant individual known for her love of playing bingo, shopping, and collecting various items. She cherished her time spent with family, and at Goodwill and Coney Island.  Her fun-loving and charismatic personality endeared her to many, and she was adored for her wit and straightforward nature.

She is survived by her daughter Geraldine (Frank) Dikeman, son John (Sandy) Lewis, sister Madeline Lemire, brother William (Bucky) Halaska, grandchildren Kimberly, Frankie, Stephanie, Tiffany, Jeremy, Andrea, Sarah, Heidi, Amanda,  and numerous great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Hildegard Halaska, father John Halaska, daughter Cindy Lewis, siblings Phyllis, Arlene, Geraldine, Richard, Donald, Johnnie, and Robert, and grandchildren Randy and Timothy.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Johns United Church of Christ on April 8, 2024, at 10:30 am, located at 630 West Ave S, La Crosse, WI 54601.  A visitation will start at 9:30 am, until the time of the service at Church on Monday.  Following the service, lunch will be served at St. Johns United Church of Christ.  Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home in La Crosse, WI, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.

Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
