SEDLACEK, Donald

Donald ‘Don’ D. Sedlacek, age 85, of La Crosse, died Sunday July 17, 2016 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center. He was born on December 10, 1930, in Jim Falls, Wis., to Rudolph and Helen Sedlacek. On August 27, 1953 he married his wife of 50 years, Jean Gaier in Chippewa Falls, Wis.

After Don Served in the Navy during the Korean War, he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and Amtrak as a telegraph Operator until his retirement. He and Jeans favorite thing to do was to travel. Their favorite places to go were Hawaii, and also Milwaukee and Seattle where their grandchildren live. He also enjoyed going fishing with his son Jeff, and cooking. Family was the most important part of Don’s life.

Don is survived by his three daughters; Sandy (Rich) Blum, Judy Risic, and Jackie Rule, one son; Jeff Sedlacek, three granddaughters; Michelle Ramstack, Caryn Blum, and Heather Hale, two great-grandchildren; Ava and Jack, and his sister-in-law Jean Sedlacek.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, and his two siblings Maynard Sedlacek and Jean Simet.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday July 20, 2016, at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate with burial to be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post No. 52. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM, until the time of Mass at Church on Wednesday. Family and friends may also visit from 4 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday July 19, 2016, at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South, La Crosse, WI.
