Donald E. Wiggert, 93, of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Benedictine Manor, La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse on June 30, 1930. He married Shirley Stoehr on Jan. 19, 1952, in St. Gregory’s Church, Marysville, KS.
Don drove Semi for Gross Common Carrier for about 40 years in La Crosse, earning a 3 Million Mile Safe Driving Award. After he retired, he enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He loved spending time with his children making memories with them fishing and hunting. He was very handy being able to fix a lot of things. He joined the Army when he turned 18 and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He served his country during the Korean War, and earned several medals, including the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; three children Debra (Edward) Wurzel, Larry (Lavone) Wiggert, David (Pam) Wiggert; grandchildren Casey Wiggert, Amanda (Stoney) Nagel, and Ryan (Erin) and Kristin Wurzel; great-grandchildren Ella and Arya Wurzel, and Graham Wiggert.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Groeschel.
He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
A private family service will be held, with burial to take place in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
