Eva M. Steinmetz

Eva Mae Steinmetz, 83, of La Crosse, WI died on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at her home with her family at her side.

Eva was born on August 18, 1938, in La Farge, WI to Kermit and Florence (Coleman) Steinmetz.

She lived in La Crosse for most of her life and was a home caregiver for CCLS. Eva was also an over the road truck driver and a bus driver. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She loved her cat Marly, who she gave to Jeff to care for.

She is survived by her children: Tena Rae Elders, Patricia Anne “Shortie” Tabbert, Ruth Ellen “Trinket” Young; grandchildren: Tonya, Joel, Troy, Anthony, Elijah Krimsin Kee, Keyara J., Chris, Chad, Sarha, Delaine, Marshall Jr., Rowshell, Eugene; and 20 great-grandchildren and another on the way;  and siblings: Ruth (Marlow) Thomson, Bill (Arleen) Steinmetz, Kenny Paff, and Doris.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Florence and Kermit Steinmetz; siblings: Alice Steinmetz, Lucille; brother-in-law, Jack McGuinness; daughter, Betty J. Haight; son-in-law Jerry Elders; grandson, Justin Netzel; nephew, Jeffrey Thomson; great nephew, Mitchell Holderness.

There will be a memorial service for Eva at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Temple Baptist Church in La Crosse.

The family would like to thank the staff of Gundersen Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided to Eva.
