Florence Schill, age 100, of Holmen WI, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025. Born on May 18, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the beloved daughter of Bernard and Pauline Bykowski.
On October 12, 1946, she married the love of her life, George Schill. Together, they shared 52 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with three children, Richard, Patrick, and Darlene.
Florence had a kind and generous spirit, which was evident throughout her life and work. She was employed at JCPenney, where she not only assisted customers with a warm smile but also took joy in modeling the latest fashions. Later, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and generously volunteered at several other healthcare facilities, always eager to lend a hand and share a kind word.
She had a natural gift for connecting with others and was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. Her love of music was another constant in her life—she had a beautiful singing voice and was an active member of her Church choir for many years, where she found great joy in lifting others’ spirits through song.
Florence spent the majority of her life in Milwaukee, where she made lasting memories and friendships. In 2015, she moved to Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen, Wisconsin, to be closer to Rick and Laura. She was deeply loved and exceptionally well cared for by the staff, who became an extension of her family in her later years. More recently, Florence underwent the care of St. Croix Hospice who helped assist in her exceptional care.
Florence leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Pauline Bykowski, her brother Willard (Bill) Bykowski, her husband George Schill, son Patrick, and daughter Darlene.
Florence is survived by her son, Richard (Laura), as well as her grandchildren: Jill (Maurice) Stafford, Ryan Radowicz, Amanda (Sam) Crystal, Elizabeth (Adam) Binsfeld, Emily (Damian) Nold, Jessica (Alex) Brueggen, Kathryn Schill, and Kristine Schill, oldest great-grandchild, Leah Radowicz along with 13 other great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The family feels especially blessed to have been able to celebrate her 100th birthday together—a joyful occasion filled with stories, laughter, and cake. It was a meaningful and memorable milestone for a life so well lived.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bluffview Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice team for the wonderful care, kindness, and support they provided.
