Frederick A. (Sonny) Churchill

Frederick Arnold “Sonny” Churchill Jr., 80, of Summerville, South Carolina, and formerly of La Crosse, Wis. died Thursday, January 3, 2013, in South Carolina. He was born in La Crosse, Wis., on October 19 1932, to Luella Holtz and Frederick Arnold Churchill Sr.  He married Virginia Blashaski on July 26, 1952, in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his daughters; Jean Marie (Wilbur) Spearin of Dorchester, South Carolina, Joanne (Robert) Wilson of Summerville, South Carolina, six grandchildren, Jeffery (Carol )Stout,  Frederick David Spearin, Robert (Shelli) Gibbs, Chris Hammond, Corey Hammond, Amanda Hammond, and four great grandchildren Thomas and Jonathan Stout, Virginia and Dakota Spearin all of South Carolina. He is further survived by one sister Doris Van Thomme of Faribault, Minn. and one brother Richard Churchill of Rose Mount Minn. 

He was preceded in death by his wife  Virginia on May 11, 1997, her  parents were the late, John Blashaski of Bangor Wisconsin and Selma Demorest of Hokah, Minn. He was also preceded in death by his elder sister Beverly (Clyde) Butterfield, of La Crosse and two younger sisters, Bonnie (Donald) Burroughs of Caledonia MN and Janet (Myron) Hendricks of Richland Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 Friday, January 11, 2013, in the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Robert Hegenbarth will officiate with burial with military rites by the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52, La Crosse, Wis., to be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Bangor, Wis. Family and friends may call from 10:30 until the time of services at the funeral home on Friday.
