Gary Weigel, 76, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away of natural causes at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Gary was born on March 3, 1949, in La Crosse to Bonnie and Robert Weigel. Gary proudly served six years in the U.S. Navy, where he began his lifelong career as an electrical engineer. After his service, he met and married the love of his life, Starla Spencer, and together they raised five children.
Gary was a man of many talents and interests. In 2000, he earned his private pilot's license and found great joy in flying, often sharing his love of the skies by taking others up to experience the view from above. Whether it was fixing something broken, starting a new project, or lending a hand to a neighbor, there truly wasn’t anything Gary couldn’t do. He was known for his generosity, quick wit, and big heart — the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Starla Weigel, and his parents, Bonnie and Robert Weigel.
Gary is survived by his children: Kristine Young, Adam (Sabrina Ramos) Weigel, Megan (Daniel) Brown, Linse Weigel, and Alycia Weigel; his grandchildren: Kate, Gibson, and Beckham; his siblings: Ken (Karen) Weigel, Dan (Trish) Weigel, and Mary Stuhr; as well as many extended family members and friends, including one very special friend, Cindy Cochran.
A visitation will be held at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South, on Saturday May 17, 2025, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm followed by a small gathering of family and friends to share memories.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
