Jean A. Pehler, 87, of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children. She was born on January 19, 1937, to Roland and Catherine (Weber) Stange, in La Crosse. On June 7, 1956, she married Don Pehler at St. John’s Catholic Church in La Crosse.
She graduated from Aquinas High School, Class of 1955, and looked forward to her class breakfast gatherings. While raising her five children, Jean also had a clerical career at St. Francis/ Mayo Health Systems until her retirement. She enjoyed many bus trips, whether it took her to a casino, musical, shopping, or a different part of the country. She was a social butterfly always looking for her next adventure, and one of her life’s greatest achievements was going to Hawaii 15 times.
Jean is survived by and most proud of her five children Pat (Tom) Dunn, Kathy (Gary) Kerska, Joe (Cyndi Dooley) Pehler, Sandy (Vicki Powell) Pehler, and Susie (nee Pehler) Thom. She is further survived by her 11 grandchildren Ryan, Jenni, Cindy, Brian, Stephanie, Amanda, Zachary, Chad, Josh, Courtney and Andrew; and 8 great-grandchildren, Everett, Dorian, Leona, Addison, Delaney, Aurora, Aimsleigh and Lincoln. She is also survived by her sister Joan Mutch, and her brother Bob Stange.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, brother John (Elda) Stange, sister Mary (Bob) Pehler, brother-in-law John Mutch, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, on Friday, May 10, 2024, in Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South, La Crosse. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate with burial to take place in French Island Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the time of the Service at the Funeral Home on Friday.
The family wants to thank the Mayo Hospice Staff for the fabulous care they gave to Jean.
