VACH, John “Jack” F. Jr. 

John “Jack” F. Vach Jr., 61, of La Crosse, Wis., passed away Monday, April 8, 2013. He was born in La Crosse, Wis., on May 10, 1951, to John and Mary (Zlabek) Vach Sr. He married Ruth Abts on Aug. 6, 1977, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, La Crosse, Wis.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing catch in the front yard, going to Brewers games, having movie nights, camping, coaching girls softball and basketball, and cheering on the Pack. He was a loving husband, father, brother, friend and coach. He owned River City Hobbies in downtown La Crosse, a profession and hobby in which he took great pride. He could always brighten the room and put a smile on someone’s face.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, of La Crosse, Wis., and children Sara and Kevin Vach; one brother Jim (Mary Beth) Vach of La Crosse, Wis.; two brothers-in-law, Daniel (Shirley) Abts of La Crosse, Wis., and Paul Abts of La Crosse, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jeff and infant brother Stephen.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse, Wis. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate, with entombment to be held in the St. Joseph Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home located on 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass in the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
