John G. Tischer

John G. Tischer, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Gundersen Health System with his family by his side.

John was born May 23, 1938, to Eleanor (Sonsalla) and Gustave E. Tischer. He was a proud 1956  graduate of Aquinas High School where he met his best friend and future wife, Jacquelyn (Cookie). They married on August 30, 1958.

His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Cookie (Dunham); daughter Pat (Rick II) Angeletti; grandson Rick Angeletti III; sister Helen (Ronald) Buschman. Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews also survive him.

John was a Master Mechanic/Welder at Dairyland Power’s Genoa nuclear power plant for over 25 years. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, enjoying ice fishing and tending his garden the most. He loved his family.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 So. 13th St. La Crosse, Wis. Rev Rick Roberts will officiate with Entombment to be held in the St. Joseph Mausoleum, in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may visit from 9:30 until the time of Mass at the Church on Saturday. Luncheon will follow at the church.

Our family wishes to express its deep gratitude to family, neighbors and friends who have supported us over the past five years. A special debt of gratitude is owed to Cathy Bly, Patient Care Coordinator and Jessica Eggen, Social Worker, for their tireless efforts on our behalf.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John’s name to Aquinas High School or to the UWL Center on Disability Health c/o Abbie Lee.
