Kay Helen (Snyder) Groth, 79 of La Crosse, WI passed away peacefully Tuesday February 5, 2019 at Hillview Healthcare Center surrounded by family. She was born December 21, 1939 in La Crosse, WI to Lee W. and Carol I. (Gordon) Snyder and was the second oldest of ten children.
Kay graduated from Logan High School in 1957. She then attended nursing school in Milwaukee, WI. After she graduated from nursing school she worked in San Jose, CA as a nurse for 8 years. While living in California she enjoyed the adventures of white water rafting, kayaking and camping.
On May 29, 1969 in Las Vegas, NV Kay married Ralph E. Groth from La Crosse, WI. They resided in Kenosha, WI until 1977. They then moved to Champlin, MN until they returned to La Crosse in 1979. Kay worked at Gundersen Lutheran for 20 years until her retirement in 1999 after 40 total years of nursing.
Kay enjoyed her book club and going to lunches with her great friends and family. She was also an avid sports fan who loved the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. She was most happy spending time with her grandkids and shopping. She had an enthusiastic laugh and always enjoyed a gathering.
She is survived by her son Ryan (Pam) and her two grandchildren Reece and Samantha; Brothers, David G. (Kathy) Snyder, William T. (Sue) Snyder and John P. (Barb) Snyder; Sisters, Sally B. Snyder, Peggy J. (Jim) Fadness, Teri Kim Ferguson and Sandra S. Fox; brother-in-law John Groth; sister-in-law Gretchen Olson; uncle Richard (Norma) Gordon; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph; Brother Robert L. Snyder; Sister Vicki L. Snyder; brother-in-law’s Jim (Fergy) Ferguson and Norman Olson; sister-in-law Sharon R. Snyder; niece Kathleen M. Mann; nephew Brad T Snyder and a special Aunt Evelyn Dee Dee Snyder.
A memorial service will be held at Blaschke and Schneider Funeral Home 1007 Caledonia Street La Crosse, WI 54603 at 11:00 AM Monday February 11, 2019. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Pastor Andrew Fortuine will officiate.
The family would like to thank Hillview Healthcare Center for the wonderful care that they gave Kay. They made her feel at home.
