Larry James Herlitzke, of Stoddard, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the age of 77.
Larry was born on January 1, 1949, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Rosemarie Herlitzke. On December 21, 1982, he married Jennie Kromke, and together they shared many years of memories with family and friends.
Larry began working at the Potato King for his uncle at a young age. After graduating from Western Wisconsin Technical College, he started his career as an auto body technician and later worked for Holmen Ready Mix before finding his lifelong profession as a heavy equipment operator. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 139 for 47 years.
Larry is survived by his special friend, Susan Voidets; his children from his previous marriage: his daughter, Jennifer (Bob) Sawicki and their children, Ashley, Brandon, and Justin; his sons, Jeffery (Tracy) Herlitzke and their children, Chloe and Cora, and Jason (Cheryl) Herlitzke and their son, Hudson; his stepdaughter, Nancy (Todd) Wright and their children, Jessica (Nehemiah) Wright and Jenna Harris; his sister, Lynette (Thomas) Sheffer; his niece and nephews; Kevin (Sarah) Sheffer, Timothy (Melissa) Sheffer and Pamela (Paul) Samec and his beloved dog, Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Herlitzke; his parents, Clarence and Rosemarie Herlitzke; his stepdaughter, Susan Kromke; and his uncle, Louis "Bud" Herlitzke Jr., who held a special place in his heart.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Lynette and Sue, along with the many friends and neighbors who provided Larry with support, friendship, and care over the past several years.
A private family burial will be held at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Stoddard.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Thirsty Turtle on Monday, June 15, from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M.
