Lenore R. Gentry

February 28, 1948 — August 10, 2019

Lenore R. Gentry, 71, of La Crosse, was granted her angel wings on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and dear friends that Lenore touched in some way throughout her life.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1948 to Don and Esther (Woodruff) Senn.
She is survived by her two loving children; Chad (Alexa) Gentry and Cassondra (Jesse) Valley, and her second family; Tom and Naomi Pfaffendorf and their children; Matt Pfaffendorf and Megan Ellwanger of Hawkins, Wis. She is also survived by her sister Rita (Alex) Steinmetz Lennox of Orangeville, Ontario Canada, and many other friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Cathy and Barb, and many wonderful pets, most notably Winston and Penelope.

Lenore worked at Gundersen Lutheran for 45 years where she started as a candy striper at 18, and eventually became a nurse on the Rehabilitation Unit working with spinal cord injuries. She later moved to the Neuroscience Department, where she worked with some of the best doctors and nurses that the hospital had to offer. While she was in the Rehabilitation Unit, she was voted Nurse of the Year for the state of Wisconsin. Lenore loved being a nurse, and that care shined through into her being an exceptional and loving mother to her two children. She was extremely excited to meet her first grandbaby that is due in November.
