Loretta Anne (Berry) White passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2025 at Bethany St Joseph Care Center.
Lori was born on May 27th, 1933 and grew up on the Berry family farm outside of Millersburg, Iowa. She graduated with a Nursing degree from St Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. Jack White and Lori Berry were married in 1960 and the White family moved to La Crosse in 1971. Lori later received a Masters degree in Public Health from UW-La Crosse.
Lori was very proud of her Irish heritage which certainly contributed to her love of poetry, writing, long conversations and frequent laughter. Growing up on the farm led Lori to a lifelong love of nature and animals, in particular the White family's large, hairy and rambunctious dogs. In her later years Lori enjoyed visiting her grandchildren, trips to Riverside Park, shopping at the Food Co-op, watching all varieties of Iowa basketball and spending time with friends at Bean Juice Coffee Shop.
Above all Lori was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother to her husband Jack, her six children and three grandchildren. She always provided a loving, kind and caring environment for her nieces and nephews in addition to dozens of her children's neighborhood and school friends.
Lori is survived by her daughters Jackie (John) Holland and Mary (Steve) Gallagher; her sons Mike, Matt, Dan (SJ) and Brion White; along with her grandchildren Brenna Holland and Francis and Sadie Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack White, her parents Mary and Lambert Berry and her dear sister Mary Lacina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at San Damiano Chapel of Viterbo University located at 900 Viterbo Dr in La Crosse at 10 AM on January 3rd, 2026 with a visitation proceeding the Mass at 9 AM. In lieu of flowers please direct all memorials to Catholic Charities of La Crosse. Please feel free to stop by Bean Juice on Saturday January 3rd from 3:00-5:00 to have a cup of coffee to remember Lori.
The White family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the wonderful staff at Bethany St Joseph for taking care of our sweet Irish mother the past three years. We are so incredibly grateful. God bless.
The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home has been entrusted with Lorraine's final arrangements.
