Richard Treakle

March 3, 1946 — June 6, 2025

Richard Treakle could always be counted on for a good conversation and an even better laugh. Richard Treakle, 79 of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away on June 6th, 2025 in his home.

Rich was born in La Crosse on March 3rd to Roy and Louise Treakle. Rich graduated from Logan High School in 1964 before starting his career at Reserve Supply Company. Rich concluded his career at Ace Hardware where he had made a lasting impact on his colleagues and their families commonly known for dressing as Santa during the holidays.

Rich met his childhood sweetheart, Carol Treakle in 1962 and fell in love at first sight stating to a friend "I am going to marry that girl someday." After persistent charm, he won her over and the pair wed on May 21st, 1966 at St. John's Catholic Church.

Rich and Carol's family expanded with their two sons, Richard Jr and Thomas, who were their pride and joy. The family spent their time traveling, enjoying the outdoors, playing cards, and embracing every moment together, always living by the motto "we're making memories"-a tradition that continued as they welcomed grandchildren and their first great grandchild.

Beyond cherished moments with family, Rich found joy in tinkering in his workshop, fishing, hunting and participating in Boy Scouts as well as the local Lions Club.

Richard will be truly missed by his family and friends who will always remember him as a comedian with a heart of gold.

Rich was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents, Roy and Louise; his brother, Don (Joan); and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Sovereign. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Jenny) and Tom; his grandchildren, Cody (Megan), Alexus (Collin) Jacobs, Paige (Connor) and Bobby; and his great grandchild, Eli.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. Pastor Phillip Waselik will officiate. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 am, until the time of the Service, at Church on Friday.
