Rita Mae (Pitz) Mitchell-Spagl
Rita Spagl returned home to our heavenly Father on January 7th, 2017. She was born August 7, 1924, to John and Lioba (Roth) Pitz in La Crosse, WI.
Rita taught at Headstart in Hokah, MN for 14 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling, bingo, her reign as the Golden Living Center Apple Queen, and the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen (Honna) Pitz and Betty Buchner; one brother Walter Pitz. Children Sandra (Larry) Langen, Dianne (Larry) Starch, Patricia (Robert) Matson, Calvin (Joan) Mitchell, Michael (Judy) Mitchell, Rita (Terry) Gruntzel, and Ben (Dawn) Spagl, 21 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, children Ricky, Julie Faye, Nancy, granddaughter Julie Ann (Werner) Howard, three sisters and four brothers.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, January 11th, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Church of the Crucifixion, 423 So. 2nd St., La Crescent, MN with Father Gregory Havel officiating. Visitation prior to services from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday. Following services burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah, MN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ABLE, Inc., Crucifixion School, or St. Peter’s School.
A sincere thank you to all of the employees at Golden Living Center who gave our Mom such wonderful care all these years.
