Robyn Ann Marcoux

November 28, 1963 — November 20, 2023

La Crosse

Robyn Ann Marcoux (Luther), of Holmen, WI, peacefully passed away on November 20, 2023, at the age of 59, after a long, courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme (brain cancer).

Robyn was born on November 28, 1963, in La Crosse, WI.  She graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1982, and attended UW-Waukesha, where she was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball and volleyball.  Robyn finished her college studies at WWTI in La Crosse, and entered the healthcare field, where she would remain for her entire career, most recently, a 24-year tenure at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

Robyn was always a lover of music – from pop to rock to R&B to metal, and often attended concerts. Hands down her absolute favorite artist was Prince.    After her cancer diagnosis, she was able to visit Paisley Park twice, and even created a purple “Prince Wall” in her home.ands

Robyn was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in May of 2017, and bravely fought this aggressive form of brain cancer for six and a half years, enduring four brain surgeries along with several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.  The length of her survival is the longest her medical team has ever experienced in their careers – for a Glioblastoma patient.  The way they approach their patients and family members has been forever changed by Robyn’s case.

Robyn is survived by the absolute joys of her life: her children: Alexander, from St. Paul, MN; Brianna (Liang), from Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Olivia, from Holmen, WI.  Anyone who knew Robyn knows that Alex, Bri, and Liv were absolutely her whole life, and that she was extremely proud of each of them.

Robyn is also survived by her parents, Kay and Dick (coach) Luther from Pewaukee, her brother, Rod (Cassey) Luther of Sturtevant, her dear friend and colleague, Rachel McKenney, from La Crosse, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.  Robyn was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Adeline and Jule Kriese of La Crosse, and paternal grandparents, Winnifred and Jack Luther of Stoughton.

Very special thanks to all the members of Robyn’s incredible medical team at Gundersen Hospital oHosfrom: Neurology, Oncology, Radiology, Dermatology, Infectious Disease, and Palliative Care.

Thanks also to Mary, Robyn’s supervisor at Gundersen, for her kindness and compassion with Robyn during these challenging years since her diagnosis.

Special thanks also to the nurses, CNAs, and support staff from Benedictine Manor in La Crosse and to the wonderful staff at St. Croix Hospice Service for their care and kindness.

During her long battle, Robyn was determined to fight and wanted to live her life as she previously had.  She did just that – returning to work on a part-time basis after her initial diagnosis, brain surgery and treatments.  Her strength and determination were admirable, right up until the very end.  Robyn’s strength, strong opinions, brutal honesty, sense of humor, beautiful smile, and contagious laugh will be dearly missed – and the impact she had on so many will continue to live on.

Visitation will be at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home (1501 West Ave. So, La Crosse) on Thursday, November 30th from 4-7 P.M.

A private family graveside ceremony will be held the following day at Robyn’s final resting place at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery in La Crosse.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Robyn’s memory to the Glioblastoma Foundation www.Glioblastomafundation.org
