Ronald “Ron” Fred Adolph Niemeyer, 90, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2026.
Ron was born on September 5th 1935 to Fred A and Sadie M. (Schilling) Niemeyer. He was baptized by Rev Gutzke at Immanuel Lutheran church on September 22, 1935 and confirmed April 10, 1949 and attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School. Ron graduated from Logan High School. He went to WWTC where he studied printing. As a youth he worked at Gasoline Alley, Sports Bowl, Valet Shirt Service before working at Trane Company for over 40 years retiring in 1995.
He married the love of his life, Claudia A. La Due on August 18, 1956, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage. Ron and Claudia had four children. Keith E, Rhonda G, Mark Andrew and Paul Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia; children Keith (Lisa) Niemeyer and Rhonda Niemeyer; grandson Kyle MacPhetridge; siblings Dolores Johnson and Fred Niemeyer; brother-in-law Claude (Suzzanne) La Due of Australia; sister-in-law Dorothy LaDue and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Mark and Paul, and a beloved grandson Nathan Niemeyer.
Ron was active in the church serving on the finance committee for several years.
He and Claudia were foster parents for 34 years. He volunteered at Swarthout Museum and Family Law information center. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and worked set lines with his dad. Later Ron spent many hours at Neshonic Campground fishing off their dock with Rhonda and the foster children.
Ron was a kind and caring man to everyone he met. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is at last pain free with Him in heaven. All of us left behind will miss him greatly.
A Funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Tuesday January 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
