Rudolph G. Strasser, (Rudy) and Dude to his family and close friends, died peacefully at the age of 83, on Sunday afternoon, June 9, 2013 at his rural Stoddard home. Rudy was in his favorite chair watching the races.

Born on April 10, 1930 in La Crosse, Wis., to Rudolph and Victoria (Sobkowiak) Strasser. He was a lifelong resident of the Chipmunk Ridge where he farmed. He married Delores Becker on June 5, 1956 at St. Joseph the Ridge Catholic Church. Rudy was involved with many polka bands, and later recorded several tapes and CD’s. His love of music and his accordion also involved him in yearly Oktoberfest events and singing with the Oktoberfest Singers.

Rudy was a manager of the Chaseburg Co-op (Cenex) for 30 years and held positions on various boards of directors. He retired from the Co-op in 1992.

After his retirement he enjoyed playing music at local nursing homes. He also loved teaching the card game, Whistle Solo and the love of music to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; they brought a smile to his face.

He is survived by his wife Delores of Stoddard Wis., 3 daughters; Cindy (Bob) Klar of La Crosse, Wis.,  Julie Strasser of La Crosse Wis., and Lorie (John) Kammel of Coon Valley Wis., 2 sons; Paul (June) Strasser of La Crosse Wis., and Dave Strasser and special friend Linda Miles., 8 Grandchildren; Phil (Shannon) Klar, Steve (Erin) Klar, Ainsley Klar, Andrew, Austin, and Aaron Strasser, Ben (Brianna) Kammel, and Zach Kammel., 6 Great-Grandchildren; Riley, Elizabeth, Marcus, Mason, Ryann, and Matthew. Rudolph is also survived by 1 sister; Marilyn (Charles) Beahm of Marion, Iowa, and 1 brother; LeRoy (Pat) Strasser of Stoddard, Wis., 1 sister-in-law; Sharon Strasser, and numerous Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law.

Rudolph is preceded in death by 1 son, Bobby, his parents, two Brothers, Bernard and Ronald, and 1 sister-in-law, Marion.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 Friday, June 14, 2013, in Mary Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate with burial with military rites by Stoddard American Legion Post & Unit 315, in Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis., with a Rosary to be held at 5:00 PM. Family and friends may also call from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass in the Church on Friday.
