Steven “Steve” E. Wiedman, 66, of Brownsville, Minn., died Saturday, April 7, 2018, in his home.
He was born May 5, 1951, in La Crosse, Wis., to Edward and Betty (Gunderson-Englund) Wiedman. His early days were spent in Brownsville, Minn., until the family moved when he finished 7th Grade. After a couple of moves they remained in Houston, Minnesota, and Steve graduated from High School in the Class of 1969. He was active in the Drama Club and the Debate Team along with other varied interests. He then married Karen Kohner. Most of their married life was spent on the farm outside of Arcadia, Wis. Steven eventually moved back to Brownsville, Minn., and purchased, and ran The Top of The Rock for many years. He then purchased the old blacksmith shop, turning it into a Bar/Pizza place known as Saxon Hall. He made the Best Pizza around.
He is survived by son, Carl, of Brownsville, Minn., three sisters, Anne (Ray) Mark of Houston, Minn., Patty (Paul) Tripp of Preston, Maryland, and Barbara (Kevin) Bolin Ft. Collins, Col.; one brother, Doug Englund of Houston, Minn. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen on April 15, 1997, his parents Edward Wiedman and Betty Englund; his stepfather, Douglas Englund Sr.; sister Susan Douglas and brother Peter Englund.
A celebration of life for Steve will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Shellhorn Bar and Grill, 12668 MN 26, Brownsville, Minn.
