Tom lived with a contagious laugh, love in his heart while eating cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes. He made many friends and didn't forget much! He loved family and always would let you know how much he loved you with a hug. His heart was on his sleeve.
Tom lived an active and very full life, impacting those around him on a daily basis. He was involved in Special Olympics(earning many Awards such as ribbons, medals, trophies, certificates) which made him so proud of himself, bowling, swimming, and Day Services. He loved to color, dance, travel, swing, watch wrestling, listen to music, watch horror movies (especially The Walking Dead), watching the Sci-Fi Channel “it’s only a movie”, and joking around with his friends. He lit up every room he walked into and everyone loved to be around him. Tom now shares a very special date with his favorite singer, Michael Jackson, who also passed away on June 25th.
Tom’s family would like to extend a special appreciation and thanks for his care to Michelle Richardson, Louann Busness, Alyshia Towne, Maili Oshima-Smith, and John Curiel from Farnam Adult Family Home, and Megan Slattery and Hannah Johnson from his Day Services, and Dr. Petra Nedoba and the staff at Mayo-La Crosse. They would also like to thank Pam Bayer and Jane Worman for their wonderful in home care they gave Tom, and the Mayo Hospice Team of Lindsey, Laura, Liz. Thank you to Life in Harmony Music Therapist Josie; Mayo Hospice Music Therapist Fran who each met weekly with Tom and played the best 80’s and 90’s together with him. There is healing in music and we sure know there were memories made with All Star, I want it That Way, Here I Go Again, Eye of the Tiger and Billy Jean.
A thoughtful, extended appreciation to those at APTIV and Farnam House, Caregivers, Advocates, job coaches, friends and Barber Dan, for giving Tom the stability he deserved.
