Wilfred Antony

d. April 17, 2015

Wilfred “Willie” Antony, 90, of La Crosse died peacefully Friday April 17, 2015 in his home.

Willie was born on Jan. 24, 1925 in La Crosse to William and Mabel (Anderson) Antony. He grew up on farms in the Bangor area and later in La Crosse. Willie married the love of his life Shirley Kelly on Nov. 29, 1947 in La Crosse and was married to her until her death on Oct. 13, 2003.

Willie worked extremely hard his entire life and was especially proud of his 38 ½ years as a truck driver for Randall Graw Co. He also drove truck for several other companies before and after his career with Randall Graw.

Willie lived his entire life in the Bangor/La Crosse area. He was loved by many and was everyone’s favorite uncle. He always had a joke to tell or was quick to recite one of his silly phrases. He always had time for everyone; except when he was watching Judge Judy on television. He was an avid Vikings fan and loved his Dodgers. Willie loved trips out West; earlier in life with his wife Shirley and then with his son Jim in later years. He also loved to go fishing whenever he could. Willie talked a lot about his Wednesday lunch trips with his good friends from Holmen and looked very much forward to the birthday gatherings with some special friends at the North Country Buffet. Probably most important to him was his family. He was always so excited to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and became an immediate jokester when he was around them. He will be sadly missed my many and leaves a deep void for all that were close to him.

He is survived by six children: James Antony of La Crosse; Dennis (Marla) Antony of Sun Prairie, WI; Mary (Kenny) Martell of New Port Richey, FL; Theresa (Mike) Baird of West Salem; John (Becky) Antony of Lewiston, MN and Jeffrey Antony of West Salem. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; who each seemed to hold a special place in his heart.

In addition to his wife Shirley, Willie was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence; his sisters: Alvera Meir, Hazel Stalsberg, Alice Meir, and Doris Adams and his grandson Joe Martell.

Funeral services will be held Friday April 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home 1501 West Ave. S., Msgr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
